citydidactics ist eine Initiative für die Erforschung und Umsetzung von partizipativen Strategien in Stadtplanung und Architektur.

citydidactics likes …
… to make urban developments understandable, interesting and important for others.
… to do participation: involving people in a creative process. inviting people to express themselves.
… to connect people.
… people who appropriate and design their own and public spaces.
… to find hidden spaces in a city.
… ugly architecture.

How did we come up with citydidactics?

We wrote our diploma, also titled ciydidactics, about citizens participating in urban planning processes. Our main thesis is, that participation has to be thought and designed as a learning process to make the topics of city planning understandable and relevant to the people and to make planners to understand the peoples needs and wishes. To make the exchange between planners and citizens fruitful we developed a concept and communication tools for an enjoyable and creative participatory design process.

recent projects

Last year we won a competition from the Federal Ministry of Traffic, Building and Urban Development for our concept and now try out our strategy in real life. The department for urban planning of the city of Offenbach invited us to organize a participatory brainstorm for the redevelopment of a central square. This project runs till June 2012. So soon we can report results.
